In The Art of the Tractor Coloring Book, you’ll find 40 realistic drawings of tractors surrounded by fantastic worlds that range from farm yards to imaginary beasts. The tractors are detailed and to scale, and the legendary brands are all represented. You can color machines from all the colors—including iconic models from John Deere, International Harvester, Ford, Allis-Chalmers, Steiger, and J.I. Case. The book also includes a few drawings of concept tractors penned by legendary industrial designers. Each coloring page is a separate sheet that can be filled in with your favorite coloring tool, be it pens, pencils, markers or crayons.

This coloring book, while aimed at adult Antique Power aficionados, would also make a wonderful gift for young children. I am not just guessing. I have given the other two Octane Press coloring books on John Deere and Caterpillar to the son of friends, along with a new box of Crayola crayons, of course, since there is no other worth using. This book features 36 sketches based on five categories: Vintage Tractors: Pre-1940, Classic Era Tractors: 1941–1959, Space Age Tractors: 1960–1969, Muscle Tractors: 1970–1989, and Modern Tractors: 1990–Present. Models include J.I. Case, John Deere, Oliver, Farmall, Ford, International, Steiger, Case IH, International, AGCO, New Holland, Steyr, and Allis-Chalmers. Obviously, young “crayon artists” will not always know the various color schemes used for the wide variety of tractors included, providing an opportunity for you and others to help them learn—and maybe do the same for yourself—about the real tractors that were the basis for the artist’s drawings. There are also brief biographical profiles of the nine artists featured. Each tractor uses one page for the drawing to color, and on the back of that page is a brief (usually two-sentence) summary about the tractor and an identification of the artist.
